A judge rejected Brad Pitt’s request to keep the details of his custody arrangements and divorce private From Angelina Jolie and the public.
Pitt demanded an emergency hearing in order to seal their documents and keep them private. Pitt believes that Jolie is harming their children with her public actions and he wants to put an end to it.
Hollywood Life reports that Pitt’s sources attempted to seal the documents because “she fears Brad was angling to change their temporary agreement so that he could have unmonitored visits with the children.” As of December 5, Pitt is allowed to visit the children as long as a psychologist approves.
Whether or not a person is estranged from a child or a spouse, they have the right to petition visitation. Pitt’s seeking of temporary custody will result in his estate filing orders in the near future, but presently, he remains focused on sealing any custody-related filings.
“I am extremely concerned that if court records regarding custody are not sealed, information contained therein will cause irreparable damage to our children’s privacy rights,” said Pitt.
According to Yahoo!, Jolie originally filed for divorce in September and has since earned primary custody of their six kids.
The divorce filing, which garnered widespread interest from the media and the public, came after an argument on a private flight taking the famous couple to Los Angeles from France. Pitt, allegedly, was abusive toward his 15-year-old son during the flight, although no charges were filed after the FBI and child welfare officials concluded their investigations.
Los Angeles Superior Court Richard J. Burdge Jr. rejected Pitt’s request, stating that Pitt’s filing did not meet the necessary requirements for a sealing. Budge also declined to hear Pitt’s petition on an expedited basis, despite Pitt’s best efforts and emergency hearing.
